"A Yo, only 2 weeks after releasing a Demo CD mastered by Chris
Hudec, I was signed through Noise Pollution Records. The
compliments were continually coming in about the professionalism
of the sound. Working with Chris was like a collaboration with the
back of my mind. He knew exactly what I was looking for in each
and every track. The greatest part of the work Chris did (besides
the music itself) was the constant channel of communication that
was left open between Chris and myself. He never fell through and
took a sort of passion about music that was not even his. This is
extremely rare in today's industry. You better believe that Noise
Pollution Records/Universal Records will keep coming back to him
and I strongly recommend all artists, no matter what level, to do
the same. Thanks Chris!"
Tony Silvia:
"Although I have many years of making music under my belt, I’ve
only been recording for a short time. Not being completely
satisfied with what I could do on my home equipment, I decided to
take a chance and send some of my better completed recordings out
to be professionally mastered. The first company I picked
attracted me because of their low prices. I basically threw my
money out the window on that transaction, as the "master" they
produced was horrible and full of all manner of extraneous noise
that wasn’t in the original recordings. Their customer service was
abysmal, and I would go days or weeks without having any
communication from them whatsoever. At the time of this writing I
still have not received a final product from them, and at this
point I’ve tired of caring.
I decided I needed a better game plan if I was ever going to get a
CD master I’d be happy with. After some research I decided to give
Digital Sunspot a chance. I liked the fact that there was
obviously a real person working behind the scenes. A simple phone
call confirmed that. Chris was very personable and answered all of
my questions patiently; he outlined how his Edemo and the remote
mastering process worked. In less than 2 days my Edemo was done; I
was completely blown away by the improvement he was able to
achieve. A song that I had thought sounded OK before he touched it
was completely transformed into something I'd be proud to have
played on the radio - I was astonished! The positive contrast
between his Edemo and the version the "other company" did was even
more obvious than the modest improvement the "other company" had
been able to achieve. Basically I was sold; I quickly worked out
the details of the transaction with Chris so he could get started
on my project, which he did almost immediately.
Chris was able to do a job many times better than what the other
company had been able to do, and he did it in a fraction of the
time. Money well spent, I’d say. I only wish I’d gone to Digital
Sunspot first!"

"Chris did an incredible job with our Supernova EP! We gave him a
recording that was a little less than perfect as far as sound
quality goes, but the best we could do in our little town. Chris
took this decent-sounding recording and made it absolutely sing!
The clarity he brought to the EP while still retaining a nice
warmth was nothing short of incredible! The quality of his product
would suggest that the price would be far more than he charges,
but all of it comes in at lower rates than I found anywhere else
for this quality. He takes the time with the free
E-demo
to explain to you what he can do. More importantly, he explains
what you can do in the mixing process to improve your project
before sending it to him. Others offering a free demo would
simply return your demo with no explanation whatsoever.
Replication prices are also a lot cheaper than I found anywhere
else. Make sure you trust your project with Chris at the Digital
Sunspot!"
Greg Mailloux I want to thank you for the excellent work that you have done on the two projects that I sent to you for mastering. I had a similar project mastered in Toronto three years ago by a highly renowned mastering engineer, who mastered CDs by the likes of Bryan Adams, Kim Mitchell, Triumph, U2, and Lorena McKenitt. When I compare your work with his on my CDs, I found the tone quality of your master to be truer, the volume levels to be the same or better, and the price to be less than one-third of his. In addition, I found your attention to small details to be far greater than his -- he was not the least bit interested in me or my product. You, on the other hand, have given suggestions and recommendations from the very beginning. I certainly appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into both projects.
nR Element What I always can't get over (the mastering) is there is some kind of beautiful paradox in the way you make them sound... all the sounds blend together perfectly, yet at the same time, every sound and instrument has more of an identity and it clearer and more individual than before! Chris Hudec has quite an ear! =)
Sim_01 "Well, I've listened to the disk for a few days now and I think it's awesome! The more I listen to it, the more I love it. It sounds FABULOUS! Thank you for all your work and diligence and for making my tunes sound professional."
